"Edit Track" window date bug was created by psorowka
Hi,

I noticed a bug when editing dates in the "Edit Track" window. My situation is the following:

- I have recorded a track starting on July 31 and ending on August 23
- I want to split the track in two separate tracks
- For this, I duplicate the track and want to cut off the first or second part respectively, e.g. Track 1: July 31 -> August 14, Track 2: August 15 - August 23
- This works as expected for Track 1, I can just change the end date to August 14 and Save, track is shortened as expected
- for Track 2 however, I have a problem. When I try to edit the "Start Date" of the Track, qtVlm does not let me do it, supposedly because it validates the input on every single character change. E.g. when I try to change "31" to "23", it doesn't allow it because July 23 is not part of the track. Vice versa, when I try to change July to August, it doesn't allow the change, I assume because August 31 would mean "start date after end date"

There is a workaround, copy&paste the full date, edit it externally and paste a full edited date back.

But I assume this is a bug; noticed it in 5.2.17-p2 under Linux.

Cool, thanks for the quick reply! For a fix, I think the continuous input validation for a valid date does make sense.

My favorite "expected behavior" would be a roll-over for the different date components when using the arrows in the field. E.g. to stick with above example: click on July 31 and then hit "arrow up" and land at "August 1" next.

I would personally not allow any non-valid input because this will cause frustration when a user messes up the date format which is easily done.

No worries, the control is now made when you press OK, and you will get a message if the new starting date is before the present one, or if the new ending date is after the present one
