Recommended platform

What operating system and hardware are you fast Frenchies using for QtVLM?

I want to know what serious race navigators have in their permanent boat setups please?  Reliability and usability when cold and wet, would like to run companion also.

I can run any O/S and within reason any hardware.  I've got it installed with Debian 13 right now but it's a bit glitchy.  Is decent graphics capability worth paying for?  If running linux is there a preferred version/distro/window manager.

This is only about qtvlm - I don't care about signalk, media, opencpn, etc etc etc.
